Xbox One and PS4 Players May Finally Get To Play Together

Microsoft has officially announced that it will soon allow “Cross-Network Play” which could possibly allow you to play with other gamers on different console’s. The website doesn’t exactly say which other platforms that Xbox players will be playing with through cross platform but of course with Xbox One and Windows 10 being playable networks, PC was confirmed as playable through Cross-Network Play.

“First, in addition to natively supporting cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games that use Xbox Live, we’re enabling developers to support cross-network play as well. This means players on Xbox One and Windows 10 using Xbox Live will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.”

Even though it does not mention other consoles, it is still a huge possibility. Microsoft also stated that it was up to developers to support this feature while also always having the option of choosing to play with only Xbox Live players. Also Psyonix’s Rocket League will be the first game that will use the Cross-Platform feature.

“…our community has asked for since Rocket League was first announced on Xbox One, and now that we are able to pursue complete online unity on all platforms, today’s announcement is a dream come true.”

“Expect to see Rocket League cross-network play working on Xbox One and PC later this spring, with information regarding other platforms coming soon.”
